January

• Filming of The Skin Game is completed.
• Script work begins on Rich and Strange and continues until June.
• 21st - The Times reports that Rich and Strange will be Hitchcock's next film for British International Pictures.

February

• 9th - The Skin Game is reviewed positively by The Times, who also reports that the London Film Society screened a scene of the film along with a reel from The Lodger.

April

• 27th - Hitchcock's sister Ellen Kathleen marries licensed victualler Albert Edward Ingram in a Roman Catholic ceremony at the St Thomas of Canterbury, Fulham. Father W.A. Wright performs the ceremony and the witnesses are Emma Jane Hitchcock and Alma Reville. Ellen Kathleen had given birth to an illegitimate child in April 1928, the result of her affair with Albert Edward, who was married to another woman at the time.

May

• British International Pictures announces that Rich and Strange will star Joan Barry and Henry Kendall.

June

• 17th - The Times reports that The Skin Game will be the first film to be shown at a three week long film festival organised by John Maxwell and British International Pictures in Malvern.

August

• Filming on Rich and Strange is completed, having been delayed when Henry Kendall fell ill during the filming.

November

• 4th - The Times reports that Hitchcock will be directing a screen adaptation of Jefferson Farjeon's play Number Seventeen for British International Pictures.
• 16th - Actress Phyllis Konstam marries in London. The Hitchcocks are among the wedding guests and their daughter Patricia is Konstam's trainbearer.

December

• Rich and Strange is released in British cinemas.
• 14th - Rich and Strange is reviewed negatively by The Times — "Mr. Hitchcock is clearly out of form".
