Overview
Looking for a weekend retreat away from London, Hitchcock buys Winter's Grace in the quiet Guildford village of Shamley Green.

- British International Pictures announces that Alfred Hitchcock will direct Champagne, starring Betty Balfour.[1]
- 16th - The Ring premiers at the Astoria, Charing Cross Road, London.[2]
February
- Filming begins on Hitchcock's third film for British International Pictures, Champagne, which stars Betty Balfour.[3]
March
April
- 9th - Hitchcock's sister Ellen Kathleen gives birth to a child out of wedlock, christened Albert William Ingram. The father is licensed victualler Albert Edward Ingram, who is married to another woman, and the child is raised by foster parents. Albert and Ellen fail to register the birth of the child until 1932.
- 13th - British International Pictures begin running newspaper competition adverts, hoping to discover new British female film stars.[4]
May
June
July
- British International Pictures announces the cast for The Manxman, starring Anny Ondra, Carl Brisson and Malcolm Keen.[6]
- 7th - Patricia Alma Hitchcock is born to Alma & Alfred Hitchcock at 153 Cromwell Road, Kensington, London.
- 12th - The Farmer's Wife is screened at the London Imperial Institute where it is praised by Conservative M.P. Lord Danesfort.[7]
August
- Location filming for The Manxman takes place in Cornwall.[8]
September
- Hitchcock completes The Manxman.[9]
October
November
- British International Pictures announces that Alfred Hitchcock's next production will be an adaptation of Charles Bennett's play Blackmail.[10]
