- 21st - The Blackguard is screened at the Royal Albert Hall. Variety reports that the film has been "splendidly produced".[1]
May
- The front page of the Daily Express carries an advertisement from the newly formed London Film Society in which it promises to encourage "the production of really artistic films".[2]
- Production begins on The Pleasure Garden, Hitchcock's directorial debut.[3]
June
- 5th - The production crew for The Pleasure Garden arrive in Munich.[4]
- 6th - The production crew for The Pleasure Garden depart Munich for Genoa. En route, their film stock is confiscated by Customs Guards. Once in Genoa, Hitchcock desperately sources new film stock to replace the stock that was confiscated on the train.[5]
July
- Hitchcock shoots the nightclub dance scenes of The Pleasure Garden in Munich.[6]
August
- Hitchcock completes the filming of The Pleasure Garden.[7]
- 25th - Having completed her scenes in The Pleasure Garden, American actress Carmelita Geraghty departs from Southampton aboard the SS Leviathan and returns to the US, accompanied by her father, screenwriter Thomas Geraghty.[8]
- 28th - Actress Nita Naldi applies to have her passport extended in order to travel to Europe to work on The Mountain Eagle. The extension is approved on 5th September.[9]
September
- 9th - Variety reports that "Virginia Valli, engaged by the Emelka in Munich, will start work soon with that organisation".[10]
October
- The London Film Society launches itself with a viewing of the German file Waxworks, directed by Paul Leni.[11]
- Location filming for The Mountain Eagle takes place in Tyrolean villages of Obergurgl and Umhausen.
November
- Hitchcock retuns to Munich to begin studio filming for The Mountain Eagle with Nita Naldi.[12]
December
- The Picturegoer trade journal carries a full-page feature about Alma Reville, titled "Alma in Wonderland".[13]
- Gainsborough Pictures announce that, upon his return from Munich where he is filming The Mountain Eagle, Hitchcock will direct The Lodger.[14]
- With filming completed on The Mountain Eagle, Hitchcock returns to London and begins post-production editing.[15]
