George Abbott has decided to close "Pal Joey" at once instead of waiting until mid-September despite the fact that he has seats sold until September 27. Reason is that Gene Kelly, the chief player, goes to Hollywood for a film to be made by Alfred Hitchcock. Work is due to start on October 1.
