Victor Peers

Biography

Victor Peers (1897–1971) began working in the British film industry in the 1920s and became a production manager in the 1930s.

In 1946, he joined Transatlantic Pictures and likely worked uncredited on Rope (1948) and Under Capricorn (1949).

Peers went on to become a General Manager of Granada Television and later a director of Independent Television News (ITN).

He died in September 1971, aged 74.

  • Was awarded the C.B.E. (date of award currently unknown, possibly 1966).
  • Joined the Royal Flying Corps (linked to the Royal Warwickshire Regiment) during World War One and became a 2nd Lieutenant.[11]
  • Travelled to Bombay, India, aboard the Rawalpindi, which departed London on 09/Dec/1927.[12]
  • Was a member of the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve during World War Two, with the rank of Wing Commander.[13]
  • Travelled to Madeira, Portugal, with his wife Sybil aboard the Athlone Castle, which departed Southampton on 22/Sep/1960. Returned aboard the Pretoria Castle, which arrived Southampton 14/Oct/1960.
  • Lived at 9 Park Crescent, Marylebone, London from the early 1960s until his death.[14]
  • A requiem mass was held on 23/Sep/1971 at St. James, Spanish Place, London followed by cremation at Golders Green Crematorium[15]
