PRINCESS GRACE TO SET UP FUND
Princess Grace of Monaco announced today that she will use the money she earns from the film she is to make during the summer to set up a charitable fund.
In a statement issued by a palace spokesman the Princess, the former Hollywood actress Grace Kelly, said: "With the profit from this film I want to endow in Monaco a fund for needy children and encourage young Monegasque sportsmen.
"In the same way as some priests or nuns perform common artistic, musical, or sporting tasks, for example, with the aim of raising funds for their work, I feel I am able to return to the cinema for a film with the charitable aim of aiding needy children and young sportsmen."
Today's statement was designed to put an end to rumours that the Princess was re-entering films because the Principality was short of money. These rumours, have been described as nonsense at the palace, where the Principality's finances are described as being in a healthy state.
The Princess is to star in Marnie, a film by Alfred Hitchcock based on a novel by the British writer Winston Graham. The film will be made in the United States in August and September, and Princess Grace will be back, in Monaco in November.
