THE FILM WORLD.
THE FILM BOYCOTT.
Tuesday's mass meeting of exhibitors and others associated with the film industry, while it confirmed the decision to boycott the Famous Players Lasky Film Service (limited), did not really carry matters much further. The position now is that all exhibitors are recommended to cease booking the films immediately, and presumably, in view of the unanimous character of the proceedings, this will be done.
Meanwhile the boycotted company continues to announce its arrangements for the coming year. It is stated that the plans for translating famous English successes into motion pictures in their actual surroundings are proceeding with all speed. Among the authors whose work is to be used for the screen are Sir James Barrie, whose play, The Admirable Crichton, is being produced under the direction of Major "Ian Hay" in California at the present moment, Sir Arthur Pinero, Sir Hall Caine, Mr. Andrew Soutar, Miss Marie Corelli, and Miss Berta Ruck. The first production in this country will be The Sorrows of Satan, and this will be followed by a film version of His House in Order, for which Miss Elsie Ferguson will come over from the United States.
