FILM OF "JAMAICA INN"

Mr. Alfred Hitchcock has accepted an invitation to direct Mr. Charles Laughton in the film version of Miss Daphne du Maurier's novel "Jamaica Inn," which is now being prepared by Miss Clemence Dane. It will be the third film to be made by the Mayflower Picture Corporation, of which Mr. Laughton and Herr Erich Pommer are in charge. Mr. Hitchcock has in recent years gained a wide reputation as a director of films full of excitement and suspense, and Miss du Maurier's story of Cornish smugglers in the nineteenth century is expected to provide him with a subject well suited to his talents.
