The Pleasure Garden (1925) - trivia
Trivia for The Pleasure Garden (1925).
Did You Know?
- Some sources, including Maurice Yacowar's Hitchcock's British Films, incorrectly claim that American actress Nita Naldi makes an uncredited appearance in this film as the "native girl". However, numerous researchers, including Joseph Garncarz, have investigated the claim and found no evidence to back it up — contemporary sources match Hitchcock's statement that the native girl was played by a German actress, named as Elisabeth Pappritz in Deutsche Filmwoche (09/Oct/1925). More crucially, filming on The Pleasure Garden was completed a full month before Naldi set sail from the States to Europe to appear in Hitchcock's next film, The Mountain Eagle. The error appears to have been originally made by Peter Noble in his An Index to the Creative Work of Alfred Hitchcock (1949) and has been subsequently repeated in other filmographies.
