Synopsis
Robert Evans is a preacher who on weekdays drives a cab, having come up from the Pennsylvania coal mines. He woos a rich woman named Naomi Freshwater and kills her, to inherit her house. Mrs. Freshwater's niece Laura arrives. His efforts toward her only result in a desire to sort out her own life, the house remains hers. Evans kills her, places her body in a trunk and carries it to a firepit in the yard for burning. Later, as he is preaching to a crowd, it begins to rain. The rain puts out the fire and the contents of the trunk are revealed. The police arrive at the tent meeting. (TV.com)
