BRITISH FILMS
ACTIVITIES AT ELSTREE
A communication from the studios of British International Pictures, Ltd., at Elstree, sums up interestingly the films that have recently been completed there, or are at present in preparation. The films almost ready for release include "Cape Forlorn," adapted from Frank Harvey's stage play, which was presented a few months ago in London. This production has been directed by E.A. Dupont, who was responsible for "Atlantic;" and is acted by a cast which includes the author, Fay Compton, and Donald Calthrop. Miles Malleson's play, "Conflict," has a cast headed by Owen Nares. Work has been begun on Bernard Shaw's "How He Lied to Her Husband," which is set and costumed in the style of 1892. Very soon a start will be made with Galsworthy's "Skin Game." This will be directed by Alfred Hitchcock, in collaboration with the author. The part of Hornblower is to be played by Edmund Gwenn, who appeared in it over 500 times on the English stage. Mr. Gwenn has had much experience in Shaw and Galsworthy plays; and for this reason has been chosen to play the lead also In "How He Lied to Her Husband." Other films to be begun shortly include "The Happy Husband," by Harrison Owen; and "Potiphar's Wife," by Edgar Middleton.
