North by Northwest
Alfred Hitchcock; USA /959; Warner/Region 2; Certificate PG; I)J minutes; Aspect Ratio 1.85:1; Features: 3 c-minute behind-the-scenes documentary 'Destination Hitchcock The Making of North by Northwest', feature-length audio commentary by Ernest Lehman, music-only audio track showcasing Bernard Hermann's score, production stills gallery, TV spot, trailer
A classy package with the film handsomely transferred to disc (although on normal televisions the widescreen image is cropped). The behind-the-scenes documentary includes a wry account by scriptwriter Lehman of how Hitchcock managed to sell the movie idea to MGM's top brass even though the script was only a quarter complete, and how they thought he was going to be making a film about the wreck of the Mary Deare. Lehman also provides the audio commentary. (GM) (MFBNo. 309)
