Alfred Hitchcock, the star British film producer, achieved a triumph with "The Farmer's Wife," the screen version of the famous comedy by Eden Phillpotts, at the Hippodrome. Although most of the production work was done at Elstree, some exquisite open air scenes were taken on the Devon and Somerset countryside, and there are beautiful shots of field and farm, wood and upland. The story is familiar. It is that of a widower farmer who sought a wife and was long in realising that his quiet, unassuming housekeeper was the ideal choice. Jameson Thomas and Lilian Hall Davis play the parts.
