Midge's Apartment
The interior apartment scenes were filmed in the studio, with the scene where Scottie drops Midge off (after visiting the Argosy Book Shop) showing the only external view of the location at 298 Union Street. The skyline background used in the studio scenes was likely photographed from the flat roof of the building.
The Reel SF web site has identified that the skyline background was subsequently re-used in Portrait in Black (1960).[1]
The two story building that appears in the film was subsequently torn down and replaced with a taller building in the mid-1970s, which is now 296 Union Street.[2].
