Frank Krutnik
Biography
Dr Frank Krutnik is a Reader in Film Studies (Media and Film) at the University of Sussex.
"Frank’s main research interests are in film history, US cinema and popular culture, film and television comedy, film noir, stardom, popular music, the Hollywood Left, and radio broadcasting in the US (1930s-1960s), and issues of cultural representation. Besides being the author of several acclaimed monographs and edited collections, his articles have been published in leading international screen journals since the 1980s. Frank’s groundbreaking work on comedy, film noir and masculinity has had substantial influence on debates in film studies, and is used extensively on university courses, in film studies and beyond, across the world. His is currently researching for a new book on film noir, and for articles on ‘radio noir’ and the culture of suspense."
