Ask The Globe
Q. Was movie director Alfred Hitchcock's body ever stolen from its grave?
R.O., Concord
A. No. However, according to his biographer Donald Spoto, who wrote "The Dark Side of Genius," Hitchcock did have a terrible fear of death and dying. Increasingly alcoholic in his old age, Hitchcock would often break into weeping in dread of dying alone in the dark. In the end, he died peacefully in his Los Angeles home from heart failure.
