Bell, Book and Candle (1958)

Bell, Book and Candle (1958) is an American romantic comedy directed by Richard Quine and released by Columbia Pictures. Starring James Stewart and Kim Novak, the film was based on the Broadway play of the same name, written by John Van Druten.

In order for Novak to appear in Hitchcock's Vertigo (1958), which was released first, a loan out deal was struck between Columbia and Paramount. In return for Novak, who was signed to studio, Stewart would then appear in a Columbia film.

The domestic box office return for the film was $2.5m, which was coincidentally roughly the budget for Vertigo.
