Monument for Black Country star
A Black Country town has had a touch of Hollywood glitz as a monument to one of Alfred Hitchcock's favourite actresses has been unveiled.
The monument to The Thirty Nine Steps actress Madeleine Carroll has been unveiled in her home town of West Bromwich 20 years after her death.
Local historian Terry Price put up some of his own cash to pay for the stone monument.
She was born in the town's Herbert Street in 1906.
Ms Carroll later studied at Birmingham University before finding fame in America.
She was one of Hitchcock's "ice cool blondes" and became the highest paid Hollywood actress of her time.
She starred in more than 40 films before giving up Hollywood to join the Red Cross during World War II before working for Unicef.
