Alfred Hitchcock (b. 1860) - Last Will and Testament
The following is a transcription of the Last Will and Testament of Alfred Hitchcock (b. 1860), who died 03/Nov/1926. He was the uncle of director Alfred Hitchcock.
The primary beneficiary was his son, Alfred Charles Hitchcock (b. 1889).
The executors of the will were:
- John Sylvester Hitchcock (b. 1864)
Brother of the deceased. - William John Lees (b. 1863)
Born in Walworth, Camberwell, London. He was a fishmonger who lived on Peckham Park Road, Peckham, Camberwell (1911 Census). He was married to Mary Elizabeth (1891 Census) and then Olive (1911 Census). He had at least four children: May, Frank, Robert and Alfred. It is possible he was a partner in John Hitchcock Ltd.
The will was proven on 31/Mar/1927 and the follow valuations recorded:
- gross value of estate — £18,334 11s. 6d.
- net value of personal estate — £12,076 6s. 8d.
Notes
- Alfred's first wife, Emma Gollop, died in 1903 and he remarried in 1913 to Elizabeth Amelia Welch. Given that the original will was written in 1920, it seems odd that he initially left nothing to his wife until the addition of the codicil in 1926.
- The will has been reformatted to improve readability.
